Excellence in Leadership Seminar

The Excellence in Leadership Seminar, hosted by the Center for Student Engagement, allows GW students to refine their leadership skills. Students can participate in sessions designed to prepare them for future leadership positions - on or off-campus.

What will I get out of this?

By participating in the Excellence in Leadership Seminar, you will:

  • Increase your self-awareness
  • Improve your communication
  • Increase your sense of social responsibility
  • Discuss diversity, equity and inclusion, including intercultural competence and social justice
  • Learn how to manage organizations, particularly student organizations

These skills will make you more:

  • Marketable to employers
  • Prepared for leadership positions
  • Effective when working in groups, teams and organizations
  • Able to create positive change for the causes and communities you care about

Program Features

  • Series of 1, 1.5, or 2-hour workshops
  • Open to all GW students
  • Choose which sessions you want to attend and attend as many as you'd like

Student Organization Participation Requirement

As part of training, student organizations must send representatives to, and complete a short assessment for, a total of 5 different sessions before re-registration ends in March 2018. Any active member (listed as a member in the OrgSync portal) may serve as a representative. For more information, please visit Student Org Requirement.
